Sheryl Crow

There seem to be quite a few female celebrities who run for charity, these days. We’ve already considered Kina Grannis, and her Run Team Kina project, in the last few days – well, now I see that over last weekend the lovely (and, almost unbelievably, 50-year-old) Sheryl Crow and her sister ran a half-marathon in aid of the New Hope Academy, which is a school for under-privileged children. (Their motto: “Igniting Hope. Transforming Hearts”.) She completed the run in just under two hours, raising a presently undisclosed amount for the charity. Apparently she started training for the event – organised by St Jude Children’s Research Hospital – some three months ago. Other runners taking part were raising funds for a variety of other charities, and everyone was helped to keep going till the end of the course by an accompanying stream of music… the event is known as the St Jude Country Music Half-Marathon. As others have commented, it’s great to see stars taking such an active role in supporting non-profits, rather than simply putting in a brief appearance.

Be the first to like.
