Blue Ivy’s generosity
Ten days after the birth of Blue Ivy – daughter of Jay-Z and Beyoncé Knowles – rumours are circulating that they may be about to make a slightly unusual donation to one or more charities for young mothers. We are used, in these pages, to reading of financial donations to charity, and people’s generosity with their time. But today we’ve heard that Blue Ivy’s parents, perhaps a little embarrassed by the quantity of gifts showered on their new-born, may be planning to donate a sizeable proportion to the less fortunate. Already, more than $1.5million has reputedly been lavished on Blue by her proud parents (including the provision of a solid-gold rocking horse), and gifts have included a Swarovski crystal encrusted high chair and bathtub, jointly worth more than $15,000. But although grateful for the mountain of gifts they have received they will apparently now pass many of them on to charity.
